We caught up with Alison Mcaleavy, the owner of ZIG+STAR to chat about her brand a bit! Let's get to know her!
ZIG+STAR is the no-compromise, unisex kids footwear brand which launched this year.
My background is fashion (I was a head of buying at Topshop for the last 10 years of my career)… I decided to set up the brand after years of frustrated shoe buying for my own 3 kids. Everything was so gendered and limiting.
I wanted cool, simple shoes that looked good and were good for their feet (we are fully podiatrist approved).
We don’t sell boys shoes or girls shoes, we sell everyone shoes... that will take you from the schoolyard to the skatepark, the party to the playground.
We want to give little feet the freedom to take big steps.. no compromise, no stereotypes, no limits.
I developed the product over a 2 year period, and worked with a paediatric podiatrist and other experts to ensure our range delivered on both style and substance. All our shoes are designed to last… they come with an innovative hidden midsole that help adjusts fit and, once removed, allows extra room to grow.
