THE GHOST OF WINTER Spring Summer 2016
Singapore, 19 January 2016 – Touted by the kids wear industry as the new brand to watch, CAVALIER has been on the radar of the world’s leading trend forecasting and analysis service WGSN since their debut collection for setting the surrealist trend in their Offbeat AW 2016/17 Fashion Forecast report.
This Spring/Summer, CAVALIER brings the ‘ghost of winter’ to life in Series 5. Described by husband and co-founder Perry Lam as “CAVALIER on acid”, Creative Director Angela Chong takes the madness up a notch this time by exploiting the ghosting effect of sheer organza constructed as pseudo winter wear elements – hoods, mittens, long sleeves, and layering – on weightless summer pieces. All so that we can make believe that it’s winter in summer!
CAVALIER is also introducing bucket hats for the first time in this collection. The icing on the cake – Tokyo, New York and Paris each hold namesake pieces inspired by 3 personal winters spent in these cities by married founders Angela and Perry. The Tokyo Ski Bucket Hat features a holographic ski goggles appliqué for pretend ski adventures. The New York City Snow Tank Top and Bucket Hat will drive kids crazy with hundreds of mini white pom poms netted in, that jump when they jump and stop when they stop. And of course everyone loves a luxe Parisian winter and in true CAVALIER quirk, the landmark Eiffel Tower adorns the back of overalls in navy and champagne and is topped with a matching bucket hat featuring an oversized faux fur pom pom, beanie style.
